Q: What is the .NET Framework, and why do i need it?
TD Drum Studio was develope under the Visual Studio .NET enviorment.
Any application that is developed under this enviorment must have the .NET Framework installed
on his machine, in order for it to run .
This installation is a one time only process and most likely that you already have it installed.
If you dont know if you have it or not, dont worry, just download TD Drum Studio and the installation
program will check if you have it. if not, it will redirect you to the .NET Download Page on Microsoft
Website and you can download it. make sure you choose to download: .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package

Q:How do i download Drum Kits from my TD Module into TD Studio?

If you want to download data from your TD Module you will have to do as follow:
- Start TD Drum Studio
- Connect to your Module
- goto your TD Module, press MIDI -> BULK and then choose to dump either All Drum kits or a specific one.
* Please note that the current version of TD Studio will receive only Drum Kits from your module and will ignore other data like Setup, Percussion Sets etc...

I Strongly recommend you to take a look at the Tutorial section on my site.
You can learn a lot about how to use TD Studio and discover some cool features in it.

Q: I See that since version 1.0 you support downloading data from your TD Module directly into TD Studio. but why isent this being done automaticlly when i press the DOWNLAOD button?

The main reason for this is Roland TD-12 and TD-20 Modules.
all Roland TD Modules, except these two, supports RQ1 commands which allows you to Request specific data from you TD Module programaticlly, using the MIDI Interface.
unfortunatly, roland have blocked this feature from the TD-12 and TD-20.
becuase of that, TD Studio cant Request a the Drum Kits data from these two specific TD Module types.
So in order to keep things simple and not to confuse anyone, i disabled the automatic Drum Kit Request alltogether. so if you want to download Drum Kit data from your module, you will have to dump the data manually from your module, and TD Studio will receive it for you.

Q: I'm a TD-20 Owner and bought some V-Expressions. The Problem is, that the Drum Kits i bought comes in a TD0 Format and not SYX. What can i do to load them into TD Studio?
TD Drum Studio doesnt support TDO Files yet. i do plan to add support to them in the future.
In order for you to load your drum kits to TD Studio, you will first need to load them into your TD-20 Module and then Dump them into TD Drum Studio.
this is an easy One Time only process that should take no more then 2-3 minuets.

Q:I Am a Sadistic Freak! And would like to use a third party program like MIDI-OX in order to download my Drum Kits and use them in TD Studio - although its totally not necessary since version 1.0 came out.

I Decided to leave the instructions on how to achieve that, although it is not longer necessary since
version 1.0 supports downloading Drum Kits from your TD Module directly into TD Studio.
Here are the instructions

In order for you to download the Drum Kits on your TD Module and use them in TD Drum Studio, you
will first have to transmit them into your PC as SYX Files using a third part program like MIDI-OX.
Here are the exact steps of how to do that:

Step I - Install and Configure MIDI-OX.

- Download MIDI-OX from http://www.midiox.com/ and install it.
- Make sure your computer is connected to your TD Module using any type of MIDI Cable (eg, USB).
- Start MIDI-OX.
- Click on Options and make sure that “Midi Filter” and “Pass Sysex” are checked on.
- Click “Midi Devices” and make sure your MIDI Device appears and is selected for both IN and OUT.
- Click Ok.
- Click on Options again and make sure "Midi Filer" and "Pass Sysex" are checked on.

Step II - Download your Drum Kits to.

- In the MIDI-OX program, Click on View and choose SYSEX
- In the dialog screen that appear, Click on Sysex -> Receive Manual Dump
- A Small Dialog Box should appear saying (Wait for completion) O Bytes received.
- Now goto your TD Module and press SETUP -> [F1 - MIDI] -> [F5 - BULK].
- you should see "in Transmit Data". choose "ALL DRUM KITS" and press execute
- You will see a progress bar on your TD Module and the Bytes on MIDI-OX Increase.
after the Module inform you that it finish dumping the data, click on "Done" in MIDI-OX
- Now, Save the data you received into a SYX File.
- Load your Drum Kits into TD Drum Studio (Click HERE for more information on that)
Q: I Downloaded and installed version 0.7 for my TD-12, But when i downloaded a newer version, it wont load my Kit Bank
I Apologize for that.
but if you downloaded the first version of TD Drum (which only supported the TD-12 Modules)
you will have to recreate your Kit Bank.
Future versions will not have the same problem.
More to come...
